The projects we carry out promote the development of scientific knowledge in the agri-food sector.

The objective of these is the transfer of technology from the academy to the farmer, therefor:

  • Crop and animal farmers can benefit economically from technological advances.
  • Society and the planet enjoy better health and greater security.
Less Phytos
Objective
Reduce the use of phytosanitary products in potato and cereal plantations (extensive crops), by improving plant welfare with the use of biostimulants.
Collaborators
Neiker, UAGA (Unión agroganadera de Álava)
Description
Research project aimed at implementing a 50% reduction in the use of conventional phytosanitary products in extensive crops, implementing agroecological techniques and use of biostimulants. In parallel, a technical and economic evaluation of the proposed interventions will be carried out, as well as the social structure of the Alava sector, as tools to contrast the escalation to the sector of the proposed models.

Funding
Aid for cooperation provided for in Article 35 of Regulation (EU) 1305/2013. 2017. Department of economic development and infrastructure of the Basque Government.
Active control of defoliator fungi
Objective
Description of the strategy of active control of the disease caused by the defoliating fungi of bands in the pine forest of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country.
Collaborators
Neiker, Basque Government, HAZI, UPV / EHU
Description
The brown band (Dothistroma septosporum and Lecanosticta acicola) is a fungus that affects in a great extent the pines of northern Spain. The Basque Country is one of the epicenters of this disease due to the large extent of its forest mass, with pine being the most extensive tree species. Increase the plant welfare of pine in order to improve naturally their natural efficacy in combating this disease, is the solution proposed by Econatur Ikerketa.
Project phase
Field studies through various dispersion techniques of biostimulants.
Project start

Biopony
Objective
Obtaining products for bioponic cultivation.
Collaborators
Neiker
Description
Development of a novel and pioneering range of products for growing vegetables under an ecosustainable hydroponic model (Bioponic). The benefits of hydroponics are high, but the existing products for the nutrition and care of these vegetables come from the chemical industry. Working on a sustainable, ecological and effective alternative is necessary
Project phase
Laboratory studies.
